Miguel O'Malley
I am a mathematician working in the fields of Topological Data Analysis, Machine Learning, and Computational Neuroscience. I develop both computational software and interactive media (games, artistic displays) for the purpose of research and outreach. My current main interests are the gap between human and ML performance on NP problems, leveraging the connection between topology and geometric invariants towards the advancement of data analysis, and modelling systems which can generate appropriate representations of cognition. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute Leipzig and the ScaDS.AI institute of Universitat Leipzig in Erika Roldan's Stochastic Topology group. My doctoral work was done at Wesleyan University under the supervision of Sara Kalisnik.
